Flying the flag for England
Newcastle is flying the flag for England before Sunday’s European Championship final against Spain.
The flag of St George is fluttering outside Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council’s headquarters at Castle House as a celebration of the squad’s achievement in reaching their first major final at an overseas tournament.
England’s squad includes Chesterton-raised goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who took his first steps in the game with Marsh Town.
Simon Tagg, Leader of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, said:
Like every English football fan I’m delighted to see England in the final of the Euros for the second time running.
We’re proud to fly the flag on their behalf as a symbol of our support and wish them all the best of luck on Sunday, including our own Aaron Ramsdale.”
