Book early while leisure centre system upgraded
Leisure centre users are being urged to book their sessions early before its booking system is upgraded later this month.
Newcastle’s J2 leisure centre is open as usual, but its booking system will be suspended for up to four days from Monday, April 24.
The system is being upgraded in preparation for the introduction of a new app and self-service kiosks in reception later in the year, through which users can book visits and manage their accounts.
Simon Tagg, Leader of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, said:
J2 is fully open, but the advance booking system will be unavailable for up to four days from Monday, April 24.
“People may still be able to access classes and sessions if they turn up on the door, but we can’t guarantee it so we’re asking people to book in advance to make sure they can do what they want.
Advance bookings can be made as usual up to Saturday, April 22 and we’re encourage anyone who wants to do anything up to April 27 to book early.”
To make booking easier, from April 17 onwards users can book up to a fortnight in advance.
Direct debits will be taken as usual, personal data remains protected and users’ member ID numbers will remain unchanged.
If members have lost their ID number, or cannot remember the email address they used to register, they should speak to a member of the team on their next visit, as the information will be needed for the J2 app.

We hope that this upgrade will be a minor inconvenience while we improve the administration system for long term improvements.”
