A local food business is aiming to bring something different to the early evening economy in Newcastle town centre later this week - thanks to a brand new partnership.

Alexandra and Kevin Fallon – the owners of home-based AK Kitchen – are hosting their first “Yum Town” market on The Stones this Saturday, 29 October.

The inaugural event, supported by the Council, will encourage residents, shoppers and visitors to enjoy a variety of delicious food as well as challenges, drinks, live music and good vibes.

The event takes place from 4pm to 9pm. Entry is free.

Alexandra and Kevin, from Clayton, are bringing together the best street food providers from around the country alongside DJs, a bar and a variety of natural living stalls.

Among the traders are Piccoloco and Tipsy Transit, popular fixtures on Newcastle-under-Lyme Markets, and town centre independent business Sando.

Food on offer ranges from Mexican and Sri Lankan dishes and also includes milkshakes, Dutch pancakes, grilled meats and halloumi, handmade pizza, waffles, bagels and oatcakes.

Cllr. Stephen Sweeney, Cabinet member for finance, town centres and growth, said: “The Council is delighted to facilitate the growing availability of successful events on The Stones in Newcastle town centre. They attract thousands of new visitors into the area and provide a really positive and vibrant atmosphere which is great to see.

“We’re especially pleased to support Alexandra and Kevin in their first Yum venture and hope it goes from strength to strength. It promises to be a superb evening.”
