Keep our clock ticking!

Our large turret clock is a much loved feature in the museum. Made by local clockmaker Frederick Skerrett it was once a key feature on the Municipal Hall.

The Muncipal Hall opened in 1890 and was local landmark with an impressive clock tower. The building was demolished in the 1960s.

The passing of time takes has taken its toll. It needs a regular service from a clock specialist and sometimes expensive new parts. Turret clocks are finely balanced and it needs this specialist attention to keep it going. It's next service is due and we are looking for donations to keep it ticking.
