Non Local Development Framework Documents

The Planning Policy Business Unit has produced some guidance documents to assist members of the public in developing their planning proposals. The links on the left take you to these guidance notes.

Please note that whilst these guidance notes do not form part of the Local Development Framework, they do form material planning considerations in the determination of planning applications. Please see each guidance note webpage for further information.

Shopfront Design Planning Practice Guidance Note

The Council's Development Management section has produced and adopted a Shopfront Design Guidance document (November 2015).  The Guide will act as a tool to help Development Management officers, owners and developers to understand how to improve the visual quality of commercial premises within the Borough.

Waste Management and Recycling Planning Practice Guidance Note

The Planning Policy Business Unit has produced a Waste Management Planning Practice Guidance Note in collaboration with the Waste Management Service.

The Guide will act as a tool to help Development Control Officers assess and improve waste management facilities within development proposals and it encourages best practice by giving advice to architects and developers to help them deliver efficient, adaptable storage facilities for recyclable materials and waste.

Hot Food Takeaways Supplementary Planning Guidance

The Council adopted the Hot Food Takeaways Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) in February 1996.
This SPG helps to indicate where planning permission for Hot Food Takeaways would be more or less likely to be acceptable. In the event of planning permission being given, the guidance also sets out the type of conditions that will be applied.

The guidance is a material consideration in the determination of planning applications submitted to the Borough Council.

The Hot Food Takeaways SPG can be viewed here.

Space around Dwellings Supplementary Planning Guidance

The Council adopted the Space around Dwellings Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) in July 2004.

This SPG sets out the Council's objectives for space about new dwellings including the need for privacy, daylight standards, and environmental considerations.

The guidance is a material consideration in the determination of planning applications submitted to the Borough Council.
