Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council has more than 60 formal playgrounds throughout the borough, with a variety of equipment ranging from traditional swings and see-saws to skate ramps and Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAs).
Playgrounds in the ownership of the Borough Council receive weekly health and safety / maintenance inspections undertaken by fully qualified playground engineers. Identified repairs are generally completed during the weekly inspection to keep playgrounds available for play, and safe. Where repairs are not possible, equipment may be removed and replaced through a programmed equipment replacement programme (subject to available funding).
During the weekly inspections, any dangerous items such as broken glass will be removed. Any reported dangerous issues from the public will be responded to as soon as possible to ensure a safe play environment.
As well as playgrounds which are owned by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, there are play facilities which are owned by, and are the responsibility of, parish councils and housing developers. Any issues relating to these facilities should be reported to the relevant owner.
Any issues to do with playground facilities should be reported to us via the online form
