This page provides information about the registration of cooling towers and evaporative condensers in the Borough, including the registration process and links to the Register and a registration form to download and print off.
Who needs to register?
All premises where cooling towers and evaporative condensers are situated must register with the Council under the Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992. The regulations require those in control of wet cooling systems and air conditioning units to notify the Council of their existence.
Wet cooling systems have been associated with a number of outbreaks of Legionnaire’s Disease over recent years and the prime purpose of notification and registration is to identify potential sources of infection and to allow for preventative measures to be taken to reduce the risk.
How do I register?
Notification involves the completion of a very simple registration form.
