Newcastle Crematorium and Borough Cemeteries
Bereavement Services are responsible for managing eight cemeteries across the borough - Attwood Street (Kidsgrove), Audley, Chesterton, Keele, Knutton, Madeley, Newcastle and Silverdale; and Newcastle Crematorium.
There are also 14 closed churchyards distributed over both the urban and rural parts of the borough.
Bereavement Services are a member of the 'Charter for the Bereaved' scheme; this is a nationally-run service quality initiative by the Institute of Burial and Cremation Authorities.
Our key service objectives are:-
- To comply with the statutory and legislative requirements including health and safety monitoring, such as memorial stability and crematorium emissions
- To continue to establish and maintain links with groups and organisations associated with bereavement services, such as church authorities, North Staffordshire Maternity Hospital and neo-natal bereavement help groups
"Providing services which meet real local needs at the highest possible standards of care, choice and dignity to those who have suffered bereavement."
